About this converter

Sometimes you need a PDF page as an image. Maybe you want to embed it in a presentation, post it on social media, or send it in a chat where PDF previews do not work well. This converter uses Mozilla's pdf.js library to render the first page of your PDF onto a Canvas element, then exports it as a JPG at your chosen quality level (High/92% by default). Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to any server. If your PDF has multiple pages, the converter will show a warning that only the first page will be converted.

The output is rendered at 2x scale (144 DPI instead of the standard 72 DPI), so the image is crisp enough for presentations and retina displays. A standard letter-size page produces roughly a 1584x2048 pixel image. The JPG compression keeps file sizes manageable, typically under 500 KB for a rendered page, compared to several megabytes if you exported as PNG.

Note that this currently converts the first page only. Multi-page export is on the roadmap. If you need lossless quality for diagrams, charts, or pages with fine text, use PDF to PNG instead. If you need the text content rather than a visual snapshot, PDF to TXT extracts the text from all pages.

How to convert PDF to JPG

  1. 1

    Select your PDF

Drag and drop a .pdf file onto the converter or click to browse. The PDF is loaded locally using Mozilla's pdf.js library. Your document is not uploaded anywhere.

  2. 2

    Render the first page

The converter renders page 1 of your PDF at 2x resolution (144 DPI) onto a Canvas element and exports it as JPG at your chosen quality level (High/92% by default). You can adjust this in the Conversion Settings panel. If your PDF has multiple pages, a warning will be shown.

  3. 3

    Check the image

Verify the rendered image looks correct. Text should be crisp and readable. Complex layouts, embedded fonts, and vector graphics all render via the same engine Firefox uses for PDF display.

  4. 4

    Download the JPG

Save the image file. It is ready for embedding in presentations, sharing in chat apps, posting on social media, or any context where you need a visual snapshot of the PDF page.
