Plain-language summary

ConvertSafe is a free, browser-based file converter. Your files never leave your device. You own your files completely -- we claim no rights to them. Use the service legally and responsibly. We provide it "as is" without guarantees. The full legal terms are below.

1. Service Description

ConvertSafe ("the Service", "we", "us", "our") provides free, browser-based file conversion tools accessible at convertsafe.app. The Service allows you to transform digital files from one format to another entirely within your web browser.

All file conversions are performed locally on your device using client-side technologies including JavaScript, the HTML Canvas API, and WebAssembly. No files are transmitted to, processed by, or stored on any external server. By accessing or using ConvertSafe, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

2. Acceptable Use

By using ConvertSafe, you agree to use the Service responsibly and in compliance with all applicable laws. Specifically, you agree to:

  • Only convert files that you own or have explicit legal authorization to modify, reproduce, or transform
  • Not use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or malicious
  • Not attempt to introduce malware, viruses, or any code designed to interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise exploit the Service's source code or infrastructure
  • Not use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service in a manner that places an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure

3. Prohibited Content

You are strictly prohibited from using ConvertSafe to process, convert, store, or distribute:

  • Copyrighted material without the express permission of the rights holder
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors
  • Content that promotes terrorism, violence, or illegal activities
  • Malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious software
  • Any material that violates the laws of your jurisdiction

While ConvertSafe does not have access to the files you convert (since they never leave your browser), we reserve the right to terminate access to the Service for users who we reasonably believe are violating these terms.

4. Intellectual Property

Your files: ConvertSafe does not claim any ownership, license, or rights over the files you convert using our Service. Your files are your property, and they remain entirely under your control at all times.

Our platform: The ConvertSafe website, its design, branding, logos, code, and all associated intellectual property are owned by ConvertSafe and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our platform without our prior written consent.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be available at all times without interruption
  • Conversions will be 100% accurate or error-free in all cases
  • The Service will meet all of your specific requirements
  • Any defects or errors will be corrected within a specific timeframe

You acknowledge that file conversion is inherently subject to format limitations, and some data loss or formatting differences may occur depending on the source and target formats.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ConvertSafe and its creators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or file corruption resulting from conversion
  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Interruption of business or workflow
  • Any damages arising from your reliance on the Service

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Service Availability and Changes

We strive to keep ConvertSafe available and reliable, but we reserve the right to:

  • Modify, update, or improve the Service at any time without prior notice
  • Temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, upgrades, or security patches
  • Discontinue specific conversion formats or features if they become technically infeasible
  • Impose reasonable usage limits (such as file size restrictions) to ensure fair access for all users

We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes that may affect your use of the Service.

8. Termination

You may stop using ConvertSafe at any time. Since we do not require accounts or registration, there is no account to delete.

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms, engages in abusive behavior, or uses the Service in a manner that could harm other users or our infrastructure.

9. Modifications to These Terms

We may update or revise these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on this page for a reasonable period.

Your continued use of ConvertSafe after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should discontinue your use of the Service.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the applicable jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
