About this converter

PNG files are lossless but large. If you need to email a screenshot, upload a product photo, or post on a platform with size limits, JPG is usually the better choice. This converter renders your PNG onto a Canvas element and exports at your chosen quality level. The default High setting (92%) is visually indistinguishable from the original for most images. The file size drops significantly. A 2 MB PNG screenshot typically becomes 200-400 KB as JPG.

Everything runs in your browser. Your image is not uploaded anywhere. You can adjust the output quality using the settings panel: Low for smallest files, Medium for a good balance, High (recommended, matches Photoshop and Lightroom defaults) for near-lossless output, or Maximum for the best possible quality. The file size difference between PNG and JPG is dramatic. You are looking at 70-90% smaller files, which makes a real difference when emailing images or uploading to platforms with size restrictions.

One thing to keep in mind: JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG will be filled with a background color (white by default, but you can choose black or gray in the settings). If you need to keep transparency, PNG to WebP is a better option since WebP supports both lossy compression and alpha channels. For web optimization where you want maximum compatibility, JPG is still the safe bet. If you are working with iPhone photos in HEIC format, you might want HEIC to JPG instead.
