About this converter

Need a pixel-perfect image of a PDF page? PNG gives you lossless quality, which matters when the PDF contains fine text, diagrams, or charts that JPG compression would smudge. This converter renders the first page of your PDF at 2x scale using Mozilla's pdf.js library, then exports it as PNG via the Canvas API. The whole process runs in your browser. Your PDF is not sent anywhere.

The lossless output matters for specific use cases. Technical diagrams with thin lines, code snippets in PDFs, charts with fine gridlines, any content where JPG compression creates visible artifacts around high-contrast edges. The tradeoff is file size. A rendered PDF page as PNG can easily be 3 to 8 MB, while the same page as JPG would be under 500 KB. For presentations and social sharing where pixel-perfect quality is not critical, PDF to JPG is more practical.

This currently converts the first page only. If your PDF has multiple pages, the converter will show a warning letting you know. Multi-page export is planned. If you need text content rather than a rendered image, the PDF to TXT extractor pulls text from all pages at once.

How to convert PDF to PNG

  1. 1

    Select your PDF

Drag and drop a .pdf file onto the converter or click to browse. The document is loaded locally with pdf.js. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

  2. 2

    Render at high resolution

The converter renders page 1 at 2x scale (144 DPI) and exports as lossless PNG. This preserves every detail including fine text and thin lines.

  3. 3

    Check the output

The PNG file will be large (3-8 MB is typical for a full page). Verify text sharpness and diagram clarity. This is the format to use when you cannot afford any compression artifacts.

  4. 4

    Download the PNG

Save the lossless image. Use it in design tools, technical documentation, or anywhere pixel-perfect reproduction of the PDF page matters.
